The new Pioneer PLX-1000 analog turntables were on hand at the Atlantic City DJ Expo and we were granted an exclusive rundown to let us know what they were all about. This new Turntable has the similar layout of the iconic Technics 1200's that DJ's are familiar with along with some Super-OEM DNA and other minor adjustments to set it apart from the others on the market. Since the announcement of the discontinuance of the mighty Technics 1200 turntables, DJ's everywhere have been looking at different vinyl alternatives for their DVS timecode and analog setups. About two years ago, Audio Technica came up with the AT-LP120-USB direct drive professional turntables with a striking resemblance and feel of the iconic classic Technics 1200. Audio Technica was gracious enough to send me a brand new unit to put it through our tests for a full in-depth HD-Video review. In my opinion, the greatest analog turntables on the market right now are the Stanton STR8-150 (Straight tonearm) and Stanton ST-150 (S-tonearm) decks. They have super-strong motors, sturdy construction, and a familiar layout that works flawlessly. It seems that the DJ's and teachers at the Scratch Academy also think the same as they use the Stanton 150 decks in their everyday setups. Serato DJ has teamed up with Nick Hook, (a NY based performer, DJ, and producer) to bring his new "COLLAGE V.1" four Track EP album to vinyl in Serato fashion. On one side there will be music from the new Nick Hook album, and on the other there will be Serato timecode for DJ's to use with Serato DJ. Serato has recorded a five-part documentary series which shows Nick's unique creative process for each track. Check out part one after the jump.

Pioneer has officially announced their brand new analog vinyl turntable called the PLX-1000. This new Turntable by has most of the original layout of the iconic Technics 1200's that DJ's are familiar with along with some Super-OEM DNA and other minor improvements and adjustments to set it apart from the rest of the pack. The PLX-1000 also has the familiar Pioneer CDJ looks with the beautiful brushed black finish and silver/nickel accents.

The Atomix team has started a new video web series called Power Room that will feature Virtual DJ 8's new engine being used and abused by some of the best DJ's around to see if it can be broken! The recently released Reloop RP-8000 Professional MIDI DJ turntables sport some of the familiar Super-OEM turntable DNA including the same high-torque motor and tonearm that is found on the Stanton ST-150, Reloop RP-6000, AT-LP1240, etc. The RP-8000 also has an additional digital Pitch LED display, eight rubberized MIDI pads, four MIDI layer buttons, and an over-sized encoder knob which can all be mapped to any MIDI compatible DJ software out on the market today. The main difference with these new Reloop turntables is that they have a familiar "Technics" turntable look and layout with a brushed aluminum top plate, recessed aluminum pitch sliders, and the familiar aluminum start-stop buttons found on the corners. The Pitch range of these turntables can be switched from +/- 8%, +/- 16% and +/- 50% and there are also start and stop adjustment knobs to control the speed that the platter starts and stops the track.

We recently reviewed the new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S8 which is a very powerful DJ controller for Traktor while also working as a DVS enabled mixer for external turntables and CDJ style control. The legendary DJ Shiftee has just completed a pretty sick turntable timecode DVS performance along with using some of the new cool features on the Traktor Kontrol S8 such as Freeze Mode.
