Turntablism Meets Soul Music: Asian Hawk [Video]

Asian Hawk just destroyed a new set over at DJcityTV where he fuses a bit of R&B live performance with turntablism. The results are so DOPE. Great mic skills, great composition skills, and great turntable wizardry allows him to pull off a nice routine that is different than the others. Asian Hawk uses a Traktor Kontrol Z2 mixer, a Traktor Kontrol F1, a footswitch, and a Numark TTX pro turntable to pull off this excellent routine. Big props to AH and DJcityTV for putting this up.

The 2013 Online DMC Championships of 2013 are going on right now and I'm constantly taking a look at the turntablists work to see who's doing what. Round 3 is now complete and Asian Hawk takes top honors with an incredible performance of scratching, juggling, drumming, and everything else in between. Check out Asian Hawks Round 3 winning performance as he rips it up on the Traktor Kontrol Z2 and a pair of Technics.

The Traktor Kontrol Z2 Mixer and Stanton ST-150 Super-OEM turntables are my battle weapons of choice. I have been using this setup for the last few years now and I always had a vinyl skin on each piece to make it look unique. It's about time to switch up the look, so I decided to contact our friends over at 12inchskinz.com to see what they had to offer. We decided to go with the "All-Gold-Everything" theme to change the Turntables & Mixer to have a loud gold appearance and we were NOT disappointed!

Turntablism

DJ Hit Creator jumps in his own DJ Booth to bring us this Turntable PLUS iPod Turntablist video for this week's entry. Working from his iPod for the beat and a Technics 1210 for scratching, we get to see him lay it down in this short, but sweet video showing the skills. Video Inside.

Mixers

The Epsilon company puts out great quality DJ gear at extremely affordable prices. I can easily vouch for these claims as we've recently reviewed their Epsilon INNO-PROPAK turntable/mixer package and the Epsilon EPS 8.0 active studio monitors with great results. It looks like the masses are also in agreement as everyone was on hand at the NAMM 2015 Epsilon Booth to see their new offerings up close and personal.

The Invisibl Skratch Piklz is definitely my favorite turntablist DJ team of all time. They have recently been touring everywhere and showing off their incredible turntable skills once again all over the world. DasMatic is the son of legendary DJ Jam Master Jay and he is a great DJ and producer who does his thing on the one's and two's every chance he gets. Check out this sick "Made-in-America" routine by DasMatic as he gets busy on the technics 1200's and a tight Rane Mixer. Dude has some really tight skills that are on full display in this dope video.
