Setup & First Impressions

The first thing that strikes you about the stand is how small its profile is when folded up. This stand was built to be taken on the go as it easily folds flat so it can be placed in a normal size bag and still leave room for your laptop, controller, etc. The build quality is also impressive as UDG found a good balance between strength and weight. All of the pieces except one tightening rod are made of an "aircraft grade anodized" aluminum which is strong enough to support any device without flexing, yet still weighs in lighter than any metal stand we've tested.

Features

Setting up the Creator Stand is simple - simply loosen the clips and then move each piece to the desired position. Other stands might be quicker to setup, but the Creator's design allows DJs unprecedented flexibility in adjusting the stand to meet his or her need's. In addition to the basic adjustments like height and tray tilt, the creator is the first stand we've tested that allows you to rotate the main tray left to right. This is great for DJs who prefer to put their laptop or controller to the left or right of their mixer as it allows you to face the device on the tray towards the center of the setup. You also have the option of placing a second, smaller tray below the main tray for use with a small controller, audio device, etc.

The Creator is priced higher than most stands on the market, so we are happy to see that UDG paid attention to the small details. UDG goes the extra mile by including high quality cushioned pads on the tray as well as rubber gloves on the feet. They also included a quality case for storage and transport. I especially appreciate the indent under the main tray as it makes it easy to take your controller off the stand when its time to pack up. These may seem like minor features, but they matter when buying a stand at this price.

Conclusion / Recommended For

As we stated earlier, this stand is now the favorite in the DJ Booth offices, both due to its flexible design and high build quality. If the price isnt too steep for you, then we don't think you can buy a better stand. Check out the specs at UDG.com
