The Numark DJ booth was buzzing big time this year at the Atlantic City DJ Expo because there were three brand new controllers on display and open for everyone to use. There was the Numark Mixtrack Quad, the Mixtrack Edge, and the holy grail of all Numark controllers… the NS7 Pro II. We spoke to our good friend and Numark staff-member DJ AP (Allen Joseph) who gives us an Exclusive Demo and Walkthrough of the NS7 Pro II that will be available to the public in early October.

The NS7 II has the same vinyl top actively spinning motorized platters found on the original NS7 along with two extra channels of control, a standalone mixer function, and 16 performance pads that will all work in perfect harmony with the new Serato DJ software. These 16 multi-color backlit performance pads were taken directly from the Akai MPC line so you know you are getting top-quality drumming style buttons to mash on while performing. The NS7 II pads change color to show the function that they currently control such as Hotcues, Samples, Loop Roll, and Slicer.

Another really cool and innovative feature on the NS7 II is the inclusion of touch sensitive knobs for EQ’s. The EQ knobs send full MIDI signal to the software when they are touched (touch-sensitive) so that they can also be used as MIDI buttons to kill or add EQ’s or any function possible. The Big Filter knob above each fader can also be used to control loop rolls as well as effect parameters.

There is no word yet on the price but the scheduled release date of the NS7 Pro II is October 1st! We’ll have one in the lab for a full video review, but we may just end up keeping it for ourselves…
