DIY: Eclectic Breaks Pro-X-Fade Crossfader Installation

The EB Pro-X-Fade is compatible with Stanton, Gemini, Vestax, Allen & Heath, Korg, and many other mixers on the market today. Most mixers with four-pin style crossfader connectors will experience a plug and play install, while mixers with three-pin style connectors or special circuitry may require some additional modifications as was the case with my Korg KM-202 in this video. My personal Korg KM-202 mixer has been around for years and we recently added a new Stanton-T.120 style skin to the mixer, installed a Traktor Audio 4 soundcard to eliminate setup cable-clutter, and we also added the rubber coated Chroma Caps from DJTechTools for a better overall look and feel.

The final and most natural upgrade for this mixer is the Crossfader. We are hip-hop DJ's who love to scratch here at djbooth.net and we are always looking for ways to improve on the scratch-ability of our mixers or controllers. The Pro X Fade crossfader was the perfect choice for this mixer as the small under-body allows for an installation even in tight places.

to see if your mixer can take advantage of this excellent upgrade. The Pro-X-Fade crossfaders cost around $100 each and they are available at the EB Shop.

DIY: Mini Innofader PNP + Pioneer DJM-T1 [Video]

The Mini Innofader is a user replaceable long life and low profile fader that can fit into many different mixers and controllers to give users a very durable and adjustable upgrade option. The Mini Innofader PNP is like a slimmed down version of the bigger Innofader so that it can fit into smaller spaces, but it still retains the solid/smooth contruction, the ability to adjust the cut-in distance, the polarity, and the sharpness of the curve.

Reloop RMX Innofader Installation [Video]

The Reloop RMX mixers are built tough and they have great features such as on-board FX and different inputs and outputs for all DJ styles. They also have removable crossfaders which can easily be replaced for the more "scratch-worthy" Reloop Mini Innofader. We've already done two in-depth video installations of the full sized Innofader PNP and the Mini-Innofader PNP last year, but Reloop has just released a quick video showing others how simple it is to make the switch. Check out the video and links for the RMX Innofader after the jump.

GOLD Turntables & Mixer DIY [Video]

The Traktor Kontrol Z2 Mixer and Stanton ST-150 Super-OEM turntables are my battle weapons of choice. I have been using this setup for the last few years now and I always had a vinyl skin on each piece to make it look unique. It's about time to switch up the look, so I decided to contact our friends over at 12inchskinz.com to see what they had to offer. We decided to go with the "All-Gold-Everything" theme to change the Turntables & Mixer to have a loud gold appearance and we were NOT disappointed!

Vestax CF-X2 Crossfader Installed in VCI-400/VCI-380

Ever since DJ controllers first started appearing on the market, the more advanced scratch DJ's were always looking for a way to make the crossfader on these units as good or close to the quality of the crossfader found on their beloved Battle Scratch Mixers. Vestax has heard their cries and has come up with an excellent solution to this dilemma. They decided to make the crossfaders on the VCI line of controllers user-friendly-upgradable to the same exact same crossfader found on their flagship scratch mixer, the PMC-05ProIV. Check out my installation video inside to see how it's done.
