I don't know exactly what it is about them, but I really like the new portable recorders that have recently hit the market. This may very well be the best one I've seen so far. Introducing the new Zoom H2n portable recorder which is the only portable recorder with a total of 5 studio-quality microphones. The unit also can record in Mid-side stereo, 2-channel surround, or in 4-channel surround. Zoom has just announced its new portable production unit called the R8. The Zoom R8 is perfect for that "producer-on-the-go" who needs a compact tool for 8-track playback, audio interface, sampler and control surface. It comes pre-loaded with lots of drum samples and sounds and can support up to 32GB SDHC cards to add even more sounds whenever you need it. Gemini has been supplying DJ's with gear for ages now and they are looking to step into the Portable PA DJ Market by introducing the new Gemini MS-USB system. Samson has just released a few new products for the NAMM 2012 show, but my favorite of the bunch is the Stage 266 Dual Wireless Microphone system. This dual VHF transmitter has a volume knob for each microphone and each handheld microphone runs on a 9-Volt battery that is good for a 10-hour run time.
