In his latest offering, Perth producer Ta-ku enlists the soulful Alina Baraz as he reworks a sample from his previous song, Long Time No See. The result is Down For You, a shadowy, angelic anthem that celebrates the ideals of love and commitment. The chemistry between Ta-ku’s ghostly piano chords and Alina’s haunting vocals is immaculate, culminating into an energy that can be felt on an almost spiritual level. As Alina sings, “Are you down for me, down for meee?” an opera like choir can be heard faintly in the background, adding to this effect. With solid production and an impressive vocal performance, Down For You is a great collaboration between artists two with complementary styles. Be sure to give a listen to Ta-ku’s latest EP, Songs To Make Up To, out now.
