1982 (Statik Selektah & Termanology) ft. Bun B & Josh Xantus - Race Against Time

Given the amount of conflict in the world right now, it’s pretty obvious that the world is a dangerous place. In their latest effort Race Against Time, 1982 (a.k.a. Statik Selektah and Termanology) celebrates life and reminded us how how lucky we are to even be breathing. Statik mans the boards, providing soft synths and piano fills as Term and Bun B flow about the dangers of the world. Termanology hops on the first verse, shedding light on some recent disasters while recognizing how lucky he is to have made it in the industry: “Earthquakes, tsunamis and all of that / People looking for they kids, they ain’t callin back.” Bun follows with similar content, touching on everything from the disaster in Japan to radioactive water in Massachusetts. I admit, I’m not a huge Bun fan, but I enjoyed this conscious side of him. Race is a relatively simple record, but every component played its part, including Josh Xantus’s smooth out chorus. No larger project is attached as of now, but given their prodigious work ethic it’s only a matter of time until we hear more from 1982.
