Alex Wiley ft. Mick Jenkins - Own Man

Update: The Andrew Zeiter and Bryan Lamb-directed visuals for Alex Wiley's Own Man single have been added.

If there's one consistent theme running through Alex Wiley's rhymes, it's individuality: on the recent Know No Normal and many other jams, the Chi-town repper's made it abundantly clear that he marches to the beat of his own drummer. On newly-released street single Own Man, he reaffirms his commitment to staying in his own lane, confident that path will lead him to greatness. Over the pitched-down vocal samples, synth-strings and trap-tinged percussion of Thug Angel beat crew Odd Couple, Wiley reflects on the glory that awaits him in fast-paced, almost feverish bars. Fellow Windy City rhymesayer Mick Jenkins, a contributor to our exclusive freestyle series, lends his aggressive flow to the closing 16. Initially, Own Man was the first song release off Wiley's sophomore album, Village Party, but it didn't make the final cut.
