Ali Vegas considers himself a spokesperson for hip-hop’s younger generation, in part due to the industry politics he has suffered through for years. Following up his last Booth feature, That’s Nothing, the Queens native puts in a good word for his peers on perhaps his deepest song to date. Speaking to an older, jaded audience, who would hate on his lifestyle and/or music (and that of other similarly-aged artists), Vegas says, Excuse Me. Assisted with background vocals by R&B singer Shiré (whose controversial single I Used to LovHer was recently featured on DJBooth) and produced by Rico & Pres, Excuse Me should be a listeners’ favorite and an inspiration to fellow artists on the grind.
