- Artist: Allan Kingdom
- Track: Mandela (DJBooth Freestyle)
- Producer: Charlie Heat and Critical
- Album: DJBooth Freestyle Series (#56)
The 56th entry in the relaunched DJBooth Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Allan Kingdom, a Canadian born, St. Paul, Minnesota resident who first caught our attention in early 2014, and then again later in the year when he released his Future Memoirs album. He most recently caught all of our attention when he appeared on Kanye's latest single, All Day.
Over the head-nodding, behind-the-boards work of Charlie Heat and Critical, the head-turning emcee delivers high-energy, quarrelsome bars on Mandela, which he dedicates to his "ancestors and descendants." Fred Lozano provides original artwork to accompany the freestyle.
Kingdom is currently in the studio working with a variety of producers, among them Ryan Olson, wrapping up a brand new, full-length album.
Oft imitated but never equaled, the DJBooth Freestyle Series originally ran from February 2009 through June 2011. Its 250 total entries were the work of a veritable who's-who of underground and emerging emcees, including stars of today like Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
