This week marks what would have been the 40th birthday of Big L, the enormously gifted emcee who was murdered in 1999 and who many expected to become the next great New York City rapper. To celebrate his life, we're spotlighting this previously unseen 1998 freestyle session between him, Charlie Hustle and Big Pun, another great rapper who passed away before his time. If you're already a Big L fan, this is another reminder of his talent. If this is the first you've heard of him, hopefully it'll be a gateway to discovering more about one of hip-hop's biggest "what if he had lived?" questions. RIP, Lamont Coleman.
