In The Golden Child, one of the weirder flicks on Eddie Murphy's resume, the comedian plays a social worker chosen to protect the title character, a Tibetan young'n with the power to save the world. I'm not sure whether Black EL intends to portray himself as a hip-hop messiah, but his latest single certainly offers three-and-a-half minutes' worth of salvation from lackluster beats and rhymes. Victor Radz and Durkin's mellow, ethereal sample work sets the mood as the Boston rhymesayer reflects with utter self-assurance on his career in the game, breaking only to give competitors the brush-off. This cut is just a loosie but, rest assured, we'll keep you supplied with the latest news and tunes from Black EL.
