- Artist: Bryant Dope
- Track: Field Of Dreams
- Producer: Fat Jon
In the 1989 drama Field of Dreams, a farmer played by Kevin Costner builds a baseball diamond in a cornfield, which somehow ends up attracting the specters of numerous late, great players. I haven't seen it since grade school, so my memory's a little foggy. Thankfully, it doesn't matter, because Bryant Dope's latest feature has nothing to do with baseball or ghosts. Instead, this EP outtake tells the story of a Queens rhymesayer striving to take his mic game to the next level. In intricate, introspective bars, the 21-year-old artist chronicles his efforts to “balance school, music and a day job,” and expresses a refreshingly humble, open-minded attitude toward his craft. Fat Jon comes with production to match the artist's thoughtful lyrics, pairing jazzy keys with a headnodic rhythm section. Though this record didn't make it onto the project, those craving more fresh tunes can find what they seek on Bryant's Raw Dope EP, out now online.
