Cam’ron & Vado ft. Jazz - Soulja
- Artist: Cam'ron & Vado
- Track: Soulja
- Feat. Cam'ron, Vado
- Producer: Butter Beat
- Album: Boss Of All Bosses 3
We’ve all come to expect a certain, shall we say not exactly Shakespearean rhyme style from Cam’ron and Vado, but I think the Harlem-for-life representers will surprise a lot of people with the release of their new song Soulja, a thoughtful meditation on the tragic practice of child soldiers. I’m sorry, I’m just kidding, but I had you going there for a second, didn’t I? Instead, Soulja finds the duo as street based as ever, grabbing producer Butter Beat for a looped vocal sample beat that will undoubtedly have some reminiscing on the Diplomat glory days (Oh Boy anyone?). Cam uses that bouncing energy to deliver some relentlessly banging rhymes that wave in some off-kilter slang and references (shout out to Lorena Bobbit). It’s a pattern that his protégé Vado picks up on nicely, as does Jazz, a female newcomer who’s clearly nothing to mess with. Songs like these tend to inspire either some real love or hate – let us know which side you’re on in the comments below. And if you’re in the former camp you’re undoubtedly keeping your eyes and ears peeled for the release of Cam’s currently unscheduled Boss of All Bosses 3 mixtape.
