I’d be lying if I said I’d had my fill of new Cee-Lo Green material; lately the man’s been pushing out more singles than a stripper on a Friday night, but I’ve been digging them all. While I side with my bossman Nathan on the sadness that Mr. Callaway has yet to return to the grittier region of hip-hop (Google Big Ole Words and you’ll understand), I don’t mind when something like Bright Lights, Bigger City drops into my lap. While this is cut is blatantly directed towards radio and club spins, Cee-Lo maintains his clever eccentricity and delivers some retro pop-funk on a uptempo song that would be dismissed if performed by almost anyone else. The phantom production keeps up with Green’s adventurous vocal style and ensures that listeners will undoubtedly be interested in the next release from the eclectic ATLien. The only question left remaining is when if we’ll hear some rap lines uttered from the man. If you enjoyed this dance floor anthem, be sure to keep a lookout for his latest album, The Lady Killer, dropping November 9.
