Charmingly Ghetto doesn't just want to take over the game—he wants to see rap Redefined. On the inaugural song release off his next street album, making its world premiere right here in the Booth, the ambitious up-and-comer speaks his mind on the state of contemporary hip-hop, as well as airing a few grievances with the society surrounding him. In his final verse, he offers some incisive comments on the public perception of black victims of violent crime: “The whole world's tellin' lies about her son's past / 'He did this, he did that' / The fact remains that he black; now he gone.” Producer ATG provides an ominous, sampled beat to back the Boston repper's bars. Feeling it? This is just one of many dope, insightful jams slated to appear on Charmingly Ghetto's Of the Meaning of Progress LP, scheduled for digital release July 2.
