Chris Cartier - New Kingston Flow
- Artist: Chris Cartier
- Track: New Kingston Flow
- Producer: BNJMN
- Album: God Don't Like Ugly
Chris Cartier may hail from the Bronx but, on his latest effort, he comes with that New Kingston Flow. Though the title might lead you to expect a heavy reggae influence, the record is grimy East Coast hip-hop to its core. Jamaican beatsmith BNJMN layers Chipmunk-pitched samples over clicking hi-hats and a boom-bap kick/snare rhythm as Cartier delivers bars packed with braggadocio and bruising trash talk. A snippet from a 1986 interview with reggae giant Peter Tosh caps off the cut, which comes complete with official visuals by Max. The God Don't Like Ugly tape is slated to drop digitally before year's end. In the meantime, of course, you can keep it locked for the latest singles.
