Common ft. Ab-Soul - Made in Black America

DJBooth_logo2x
  • Artist: Common
  • Track: Made In Black America
  • Feat. Ab-Soul
  • Producer: No I.D.

January's War found Common offering an incisive, thought-provoking lyrical take on gun violence in his native Chicago. On the newly-released Made in Black America, the Windy City mainstay continues to address the issues facing his people. Appropriately given the timing, however, he situates his bars within a broader social and historical context. Over constant collaborator No I.D.'s guitar and organ loops, the emcee demonstrates how his love for the culture informs every aspect of his hustle. TDE's Ab-Soul lends a revolutionary tenor to the cut's back half, spitting, “This is Huey P Newton with a QP / Bobby with a Seale, Fred Hampton on pills.” While this joint isn't attached to a larger project, those feeling it should keep their browsers locked for the latest on Common and No I.D.'s unscheduled collaborative full-length, Nobodys Smiling.
