If I had to sum up the consensus on Diddy Money’s new album Last Train to Paris, I’d say “not as good as some hoped, not as terrible as some feared” would just about do it; could we also describe new “left on the cutting room floor” record Tomorrow Tonight the same way? Expectations are always high anytime the Luda-meister is involved, but here his usually on point flow feels lacking; maybe it’s all that French pronunciation that’s slowing him down. Unfortunately that same lacking quality carries over to both the beat –which despite the album’s commitment to innovation finds producers Clinton Sparks and DJ Snake treading some very familiar club/house music ground, and the Diddy man himself, who seems to have jettisoned his Dirty Money compatriots to shine a spotlight on himself and his electronically altered quasi-singing. So how about it Booth Nation? Should this one have stowed away on board the Last Train to Paris, or was it better left waving goodbye at the station? We’ll find out soon in the comments below.
