Dox Black ft. DJ Habit - Liquid

  • Artist: Dox Black
  • Track: Liquid
  • Producer: Dox Black
  • Album: Stellar

Last summer, Dox Black introduced himself to our pages with The Five, a hard-hitting lyrical indictment of the American justice system. Freshly-minted mixtape single Liquid critiques an institution which, though not quite as powerful, is nonetheless very near to Booth readers' hearts—namely, the music industry. Over his own beat, a brisk, sampled affair featuring cuts by DJ Habit, the Sin City representer reflects on the sorry state of the game (“Take a look into the atmosphere and tell me what you see / Half of their rap careers are fabricated, MTV.”), and pledges allegiance to a bygone era of “true lyricism and great original production.” Black's values may be retro, but I have a feeling the DJBooth readership will be right in step with his sentiments. If you like what you're hearing, keep it locked for more fresh song releases leading up to the arrival of Dox' next street album, Stellar.
