Update: ["Brooke Lynn"] is no longer available for stream.
In general, rappers tend to celebrate cities in their bars, while R&B singers lavish more lyrical attention on their romantic partners. Buzzmaking singer, songwriter and beatsmith Drew Scott (the co-producer, with Deonte, of Dawn Richard's Gleaux) manages to do both at the same time on his Booth debut, an EP standout dedicated to a woman by the name of Brooke Lynn. In an approach reminiscent of Common's I Used to Love H.E.R., the Cali-residing triple-threat chronicles his stormy love affair with NYC's largest borough. Appropriately, Scott's own instrumental backdrop is a seamless blend of hip-hop and R&B, featuring boom-bap percussion and subtle vocal sampling along with reverberant keys and string flourishes. Has Brooke Lynn built up a bridge to your heart? Then you'll doubless find more to like on the artist's Places I've Ever Been EP, available now for free download via Audiomack.
