E-40 ft. Kendrick Lamar & Droop-E - Catch A Fade
- Artist: E-40
- Track: Catch a Fade
- Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Droop-E
- Producer: Droop-E
- Album: The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 3
I'll keep it one-hundred: when I first read the title of E-40's latest feature, I thought that “Catch[ing] a Fade” was something you'd do at your local barbershop. Even if you're as rusty on your West Coast street vernacular as I am, though, the record's intimidating tone should make it abundantly clear that the Bay Area mainstay and his colleagues aren't inviting the competition out for a haircut (not a literal one, anyway). A newly-leaked standout off entry number three in his newly-released album trilogy, this cut finds Droop-E (40's son) serving up a minimal, percussion-driven beat as Earl Stevens showcases his regional slanguistics. Los Angeles fast-riser (and freestyle series alum) Kendrick Lamar guests on the front, delivering an opener packed with with deadpan, internally-rhymed tough-talk, and Droop steps out from behind the boards to lace the middle with some deadpan braggadocio of his own. Feeling E-40's latest street banger? Much, much more is just a few mouse-clicks away. The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 3 dropped, along with Block Brochures one and two, today via Heavy on the Grind Ent./EMI.
