Elijah Blake - 6 / Fallen
- Artist: Elijah Blake
- Track: 6 / Fallen
- Producer: No I.D. and James Poyser / Trakmatik
- Album: Drift EP
Whereas many people—and artists—idealize childhood as a carefree time of innocence, Elijah Blake doesn't have that luxury. He's still dealing with the emotional fallout of growing up with a father who used intimidation and physical violence to keep him in line. On 6 / Fallen, the Def Jam/ARTium crooner brings his inner demons into the light of day, acknowledging that the physical abuse in his past has arrested his emotional development. No I.D. and co-producer James Poyser back the first section of this two-part cut with a spare set of piano chords, and crafts a lusher, guitar-led arrangement to accompany the cathartic coda. Sean Alexander's official visuals, originally debuted in August but re-released today, round out the package. Elijah Blake's Drift EP has yet to receive a drop date from the label brass, but we'll keep you posted on the project as further details emerge.
