Fabolous ft. Lil Wayne - That's Not Love

DJBooth_logo2x
  • Artist: Fabolous
  • Track: That's Not Love
  • Feat. Lil Wayne
  • Producer: StreetRunner
  • Album: The S.O.U.L. Mixtape

Fabolous promised that his new The S.O.U.L. Tape, which he says is loosely inspired by Jay-Z’s classic Blueprint album, would feature more seriously minded material, and sure enough when the project was released today it contained less Lil Mo features and more Lil Wayne features. On standout cut That’s Not Love Loso and Weezy F. join forces to create a darkly cinematic record created to call out all the false lovers out there, from groupies to entourage members. On the beat the Streetrunner crafts some somber and pounding production interspersed with an unidentified soul vocal sample (anyone know where that’s from?). Vocally Fabolous keeps his trademark punchlines to a minimum, focusing instead on narrative, high caliber rhymes, a strategy Wayne also employs, unleashing a slow flow devoid of his more schizophrenic leanings (but full of spelling lessons). So how about it Booth? Is this superstar collab worthy of your love, or only a passing glance? Either way fans of Fab will want to check out The S.O.U.L. Tape, available across the internet right now (like, for example, here).
