I-20 - Critics
- Artist: I-20
- Track: Critics
- Producer: Trakk Soundz
- Album: The Grey Area Mixtape
Those who can't do, teach. And those who can't teach, well, we call them Critics. I kid, I kid; while I, personally, enjoy reading a good critical beatdown, it's easy to imagine how careless trash-talk can put a damper on an artist's enthusiasm. Sick of all the negativity, Disturbing tha Peace buzzmaker I-20 lets the doubters know that they're simply wasting their breath on this newly-leaked mixtape cut. Not that he has much to worry about where this record is concerned; Trakk Sounds' head-noddable boardwork, sampled from S.O.J.A.'s Born in Babylon, has a smooth appeal that can't be denied, and I-20 comes with dope lyricism to match the reggae-informed groove. In a characteristically gruff flow, the ATL representative invites listeners to consider his passion for the game before forming an opinion. Of course, if you're determined to cut him down, it'll only push him to hustle harder: “You haters try to break a n*gga, you only motivate a n*gga..” With all that said, it's time for Booth readers to pass judgment. Digging this Caribbean-flavored street banger? Then keep it locked for the latest on The Grey Area, scheduled to hit the 'net “soon.”
