J. Capri - Love Me

  • Artist: J. Capri
  • Track: Love Me
  • Producer: Ready Rock Prod.
  • Album: Face in the Crowd Mixtape

Grinding one's way up from poverty is never an easy prospect, but children growing up without contact with both parents have an even more formidable strike against them – boys without fathers in particular are more likely to drop out of school, and face a greater risk of having their lives affected by crime, drugs and jail time. On new single, Love Me, Place in the Game emcee J. Capri offers his take on this painful topic; over a heartbroken sample from soul songstress Gloria Scott's Love Me or Leave Me (courtesy of Ready Rock Prod.), the First in Flight State representative confronts an absentee dad about his decision to leave (“How can you just abandon someone you once called a companion, and leave behind the seeds you done planted?”), before flipping the script and giving the man's side of the story. As lyrically insightful as its subject matter is tragic, this thought-provoking joint and much more can be found on Capri's forthcoming street album, Face in the Crowd, scheduled to hit the 'net for free download sometime in February.
