Jackie Boyz certainly take their sweet time between Booth features—their last, Winning Isn’t Easy, hit our front page way back in 2010—but when the multi-Platinum singer/songwriter duo do find time to bless our eardrums with a new record, they rarely disappoint. Los and Stevie‘s latest effort, album lead single Norma Jean, recounts the twosome’s narrow escape from the clutches of a homicidally jealous ex-lover. The Boyz collaborate with C-Minor and Mike Khalil behind the mixing boards, pairing an tongue-in-cheek flip of the intro from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough with a blistering, dancefloor-ready rhythm section. Feeling it? This is just one of many “progressive soul” bangers to be found on Jackie Boyz’ Body of Work LP, scheduled for release in summer 2013.
