Last year, ATL phenom Jarren Benton lost a colleague and a close friend, his manager Jahmal “Slow Motion” Pryor. The Funk Volume signee's latest single, W.H.W.—and the entire project to which it's attached—is a dedication to Benton's late homie, but don't hit play expecting to hear the emcee lose himself in teary recollections. Though the project does feature some lower-key more contemplative material, this time 'round Benton honors the deceased by creating a street banger of epic proportions. SMKA member Kato mans the boards, turning in a synth-percussion beat that'll make your rear view mirrors shake, and the artist turns in maniacal verses to match the instrumental's intensity. Sy Ari Da Kid ties the package together with an Auto-Tuned hook. For more, cop the Slow Motion (Volume 1) EP when it hits record stores on Tuesday, January 27.
