Often, when an artist liberates a two-in-one single, it feels like, well, exactly what it is: two different songs crammed into a single MP3. Jazz Cartier seems to have something a little bit deeper in mind on his latest effort, Rose Gold / Like, Crazy. Respectively produced Toro Y Moi (it’s a cover of Toro’s original Rose Quartz) and Michael Lantz, the two “halves” of the T-Dot emcee’s latest single offer contrasting perspectives on a romantic relationship. Topical samples from a film which, sadly, I couldn’t identify bridge the gap between the thematically-linked records. Rose Quartz / Like Crazy isn’t part of anything larger, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Cartier’s plans.
