UPDATE: The official lyric video for Glory has been added.
Hitting select theaters on Christmas, Selma will depict the struggles leading up to the Voting Rights Act of 1965, specifically focusing on the marches Martin Luther King, Jr. led from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Whether or not you'll be lining up at the box office December 25, you'll be interested to know that numerous noteworthy artists have signed on to be part of the soundtrack. R&B mainstay John Legend's contribution to the LP, Glory, is a gospel-tinged ballad with a poignant, yet uplifting vibe. In his guest verses, Windy City vet Common makes explicit the links between the Civil Rights Movement described in history textbooks and the ongoing fight against racial injustice taking place in Ferguson, Missouri and beyond. A release date has yet to be announced for the Selma soundtrack, but we'll keep you supplied with further singles as they drop.
