K. Sparks - Momma Say
- Artist: K. Sparks
- Track: Momma Say
- Producer: Kurser
- Album: Unreleased
Fans of the late, great King of Pop may be surprised to learn that the memorable “Ma ma se, ma ma coo sa...” outro from '83 single Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' wasn't just a catchy ad-lib; the lines were adapted from Cameroonian singer Manu Dibongo's Soul Makossa (“Makossa” being the Duala word for “(I) dance.”) As for the rest of the lyrics.... uh, you're on your own. Anyway, unreleased cut Momma Say sees reader favorite K. Sparks borrowing those immortal lines to serve as hook for one of his trademark, lyrically-scorching punchline/pop-reference fests. Backed by Kurser's spacey, chopped-sample boardwork, the Queens native opines on topics ranging from President Barack Obama's failure to live up to many of his campaign promises to the size of his 'ding-dong' (Sparks' own, not the President's – that would just be weird.) This track isn't set for inclusion on any forthcoming project, but those who like what they're hearing should be sure to check out Sparks' guest verse on ArtOfficial's The Payback (also featured today), as well as his recently-released A Day in the Life LP (which can be previewed here).
