K. Sparks - Pardon My Back

  • Artist: K. Sparks
  • Track: Pardon My Back
  • Producer: Kurser
  • Album: None

Absent from our pages since July, when he dropped off the seasonally-inappropriate, yet dope Autumn Blues, Queens phenom K. Sparks makes his return to the Booth with a freshly-minted non-album loosie. On Pardon My Back, Kurser's dissonant piano/woodwind loops set a grimy mood as Sparks airs his opinion on various music-industry topics of interest, from the frivolous (Miley Cyrus's disturbing VMAs performance) to the utterly serious (the “despicable” messages being pushed by many contemporary hood favorites). He even finds time to incorporate a mini-response to K. Dot's Control verse: “Kendrick Lamar, he set it off with heat / No offense to him, but I don't care what he thinks.” While this lyrically incisive jam is unattached to any larger set, those feeling it are encouraged to check out K. Sparks's last DJBooth-hosted project, the Self-Portrait LP.
