Kids These Days - Bud Biliken

  • Artist: Kids These Days
  • Track: Bud Biliken
  • Producer: Kids These Days
  • Album: Traphouse Rock

Last heard reworking Kanye West's Flashing Lights on a July promo cut of the same title, Windy City crew Kids These Days take inspiration from another local institution on the latest song release off their forthcoming full-length: Bud Billiken, a fictional character famous for lending his name to Southside Chicago's annual Bud Billiken Day Parade and Picnic, the United States' largest and oldest African American parade. The record itself , however, is more concerned with kush than local color. Emcee Vic Mensa delivers rapid-fire bars detailing his prolific smoking habits before stepping out of the way for the explosive instrumental climax—which includes an unexpected but dope brass-band rendition of Radiohead's breakout single, Creep. Kids These Days' Traphouse Rock LP is scheduled for release next Tuesday, October 30, but our readers can get a sneak peek starting Monday, when the project hits The DJBooth for free streaming.
