Kublakai - Moan

  • Artist: Kublakai
  • Track: Moan
  • Producer: Kublakai, Isaak
  • Album: Wheels Up EP

When Kublakai was in his early teens, his mother took him to a live performance by jazz legend Ornette Coleman. Though the Seattle-based emcee admits he had trouble processing most of what he heard, one piece made an indelible impression on his young mind: a cover of Charles Mingus's Moanin. Now, years down the line, that track (in a sampled form) has become the backbone of his latest promo single, Moan. On this exhilarating cut, produced by the artist with the help of Isaak of Undercaste Studios, a horn riff from Mingus's Big Band backs the artist as he touts his skills and his desire to succeed in fast-paced verses. Moan is single numero uno off Kublakai's next EP, Wheels Up. The project has yet to receive a drop date, but y'all will be the first to know when that changes.
