Good news for listeners who have been fiending for new material from Mathien: going forward, the Windy City singer/songwriter and producer plans to step up his output to about two albums per year. In conjunction with this announcement, he's unleashed (One minute)... Drift, the opening track off his next LP. This joint starts out with a bit of a lo-fi vibe—understandable since it, like all the tracks on the set, was recorded on a cheap thrift-store tape deck—but those who stick around till the end are sure to be impressed by the magic Mathien was able to work within that self-imposed limitation.
