Naledge ft. Rus Soul - Star Struck

DJBooth_logo2x
  • Artist: Naledge
  • Track: Star Struck ft. Rus Soul
  • Producer: Sa-Ra Creative Partners
  • Album: Chicago Picasso

One of the hallmarks of Cubism is the use of multiple, overlapping perspectives, intended to give viewers a greater sense of the object as a whole (yep, I took an art history course once upon a time);with his forthcoming Chicago Picasso mix CD, named after the movement's biggest name, Naledge aims to depict his hometown's music scene in a similar manner; in his own words, “I wanted to show all aspects of Chicago, not just one sound. For a long time we've seen a specific side of Chicago Rap, but this mix CD provides new perspective." On this track, the Kidz In The Hall emcee takes listeners back to his city's soulful roots. Sa-Ra Productions' mellow sample work and Rus Soul's passionate hook and backing vocals set an old-school, feel-good mood as the emcee addresses a lady who's got him Star Struck, spitting verses so packed with memorable come-ons that I couldn't decide which line to quote. If this cut's got you curious to see the whole picture, grab a copy of Picasso when it hits stores June 30th.
