Rugz D. Bewler - Right Fist

  • Artist: Rugz D. Bewler
  • Track: Right Fist
  • Producer: Grand Staff
  • Album: By Any Means Necessary

Rugz D. Bewler is a master of the first impression. How many other rappers could walk into Jim Jones' studio, play a couple songs, inspire the Dipset capo to phone Dame Dash, get invited to Dash's apartment where you happen to meet Ski Beatz, and wind up collaborating with the veteran beatsmith in a matter of hours? If the Harlemite can impress industry movers-and-shakers with such ease, I can only imagine the reaction Booth readers will have to his first feature and new single, the silky-smooth Right Fist. Here, Grand Staff's lavish, string-drenched soul sample sets the mood as Bewler showcases his distinctive lyrical style—a mix of self-assured braggadocio (he calls it “mellow-arrogance” in his Facebook bio), allusive lyrical poetry and caustic social commentary. He blasts his peers with the lines: “Look at your face, what's your race, you Ted Danson / Shuckin' and jivin' for women, cars and advances / Tyler Perry Panda, drag dresses and cameras.” Has Bewler's Booth debut made a fan out of you? More quality tunes await on the artist's By Any Means Necessary street album, due out November 25 (aka Black Friday).
