- Artist: Son Little
- Track: The River
- Producer: Aaron Livingston
- Album: Things I Forgot EP
The name Son Little may not ring a bell, but loyal readers of the Booth may know the artist born Aaron Livingston better than they're aware: we previously featured him as one-half of Icebird, his electro-funk/soul project with beatsmith RJD2. The singer/songwriter's new moniker brings to mind a grizzled old-school bluesman, and judging by his first solo feature that's no accident; on The River he sounds like a modern-day version of that archetype. Here, over his own driving stomp-clap rhythm section and spare guitar riffs back the artist as he addresses the girl he loves, showcasing a vocal delivery that's smooth one moment, ragged the next. An uncredited director's official visuals round out the package. For The River and much more, cop Little's Things I Forgot EP, out now online.
