Thus far in the week, the weather has been depressingly cloudy around my way. Lucky for me, Spectac & Shakim chose today to brighten up the Booth with Shine, a freshly-released standout off their last collaborative full-length. I Come That You Might Have Life, a 1972 gospel joint by Andrae Crouch, forms the basis of Shakim's dreamy beat, which backs characteristically intricate, positive-minded bars from his mic-rocking colleague. South Carolina rhymesayer Fat Rat da Czar and ATLien buzzmaker Rogue lend their equally uplifting lyrical stylings to the record's latter two-thirds. Like what you're hearing? More enlightening jams await on the twosome's For the People LP, released in February via HiPNott Records and available for streaming/purchase via The DJBooth.
