With a highly-anticipated presidential election later in the year (yes, people are looking forward to more than just The Carter III), more and more music will start to become political. Those who follow hip-hop closely, however, know that taking a stand is not uncommon for a group such as The Roots. On April 29, the seven-man band plans to spread a message about how our world is Rising Down. On the title track, Black Thought's verses attract a few followers to the movement with appearances by evocative MC/actor Mos Def, and hardcore street soldiers Styles P and Dice Raw (formerly of the group). If a movement is strong enough, anyone will join; but will it be heard by enough people to make a difference?
