T.I. ft. Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B & Kris Stephens - Memories Back Then
- Artist: T.I.
- Track: Memories Back Then
- Feat. Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B
- Producer: Kenoe
- Album: Unreleased
When a top-tier artist drops an album as dope as Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head, you can be sure that there are a few quality cuts that, for whatever reason, didn't make it onto the final tracklist. In the case of Memories Back Then, the reason for its exclusion can be summed up in two dreaded words: sample clearance. Originally titled Somebody That I Used to Know and inspired by Gotye's smash hit of the same name, the record received heavy pre-album buzz before falling by the wayside. Though Kris Stephens has replaced the Belgian pop singer on the chorus, the lack of a big sample doesn't diminish the impact of Tip, B.o.B and Kendrick Lamar's verses, which find each of the collaborators sharing recollections of a woman from his past. This joint, as mentioned above, isn't featured on the set, but fans can find plenty more bangers where it came from on Tip's eighth full-length, out now via Grand Hustle/Atlantic.
