Gemini DJ has just announced a brand new all in one standalone DJ system with a built-in seven-inch screen and the ability to playback files using USB hard drives instead of a laptop. The Gemini SDJ-2000 will work with a music management software called VCase which will allow users to setup their music libraries, loops, and cue points similar to Pioneer's Rekordbox or Denon's Engine. The SDJ-2000 can also connect to additional Gemini MDJ-1000 units to share the same music library from a single USB source.
Today at the NAMM 2016 show, Denon DJ division announced their new flagship DJ controller called the MCX8000. This new monstrous DJ controller is sporting a solid metal chassis all around, dual hi-res screens for playback information, 16 RGB Backlit velocity sensitive performance pads, and full compatibility with Serato DJ when connected to a computer and Denon's Engine music management software so that DJ's can use this device without a computer.
In this newest version, the Numark NS7III has all the same features and layout of the NS7II controller we reviewed last year, but it also adds three new 4.3-inch full-color screens for full track and navigation information without the need to look at the laptop screen. The new Numark NS7III almost looks identical to the NS7II; except their is an additional panel attached to the top of the unit that holds the three screens in place. Hercules has recently released its newest DJ controller called the DJ Control Jogvision. The Hercules DJ Control Jogvision has metal top jog wheels with LED indicators on them to make it easier to juggle, scratch, and cue the music without looking at the computer screen. Hercules has just released a new tutorial video that shows users how to cue and scratch using the new jog wheels and displays.
The latest iteration of the original Pioneer DDJ-SB controller that we reviewed last year includes all the same features with the addition of Gain control knobs, line level meters, the Pad Trans beat effect, and 4-deck control. The long awaited Denon MC4000 Digital DJ controller is out now and available for purchase at DJ gear retailers worldwide. The new Denon DJ MC4000 controller comes bundled with Serato DJ, has a great metal chassis, two microphone inputs for Mobile DJ's, and a compact footprint to easily transport and store when taking it on the go. Today, Native Instruments has announced their new controller called the Traktor Kontrol S5. This new controller takes the familiar body, shape, and mixing portions from the popular Traktor Kontrol S4 and removes the jog wheels in favor of screens, touch sensitive controls, and larger pads to work the new Stems file format with ease.
Early this morning Pioneer DJ hit the industry with some serious news. First, the new Rekordbox 4.0 software was revealed as a fully-fledged DJ software that will work with all Pioneer current DJ controllers and players and will soon include upgrade paths for Video plug-ins and DVS plug-ins for vinyl and CD timecode users. Today, the Native Instruments team has finally introduced the Traktor 2.9 Update which also introduces the STEMS audio file format to the masses so that DJ's can start mixing and manipulating the music in new and creative ways. With the all new STEMS files, users will be able to separate beats, grooves, and vocals so that mixing can be done on an entirely different level.
