There is no timetable for the release of The Roots' forthcoming full-length, End Game, but we're learning more about the production muscle that the Philly crew has recruited for their 12th and final solo album.

According to XXL, veteran producers 9th Wonder and Salaam Remi are currently working on the album, joining fellow production maestros Stro Elliot and Karriem Riggins.

"We will announce it when it’s done and it will come out when it comes out," Black Thought told XXL. "We’re not under any constraints of this is the date where the album must be completed and submitted. That’s not us anymore. We’re free agents now, we’re our own brand, our own label. When the joints are done, we’re just going to put it out.”

Unlike their previous 10 solo albums, End Game will be the first independently-released Roots album since the group's 1993 debut, Organix. Their recording contract with Def Jam—which spanned five albums—ended following the release of 2014's ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin.

For a taste of what Black Thought raps over 9th Wonder beats will sound like on End Game, press play on 2016's Holy Shit-worthy single, "Making a Murderer," which also features a guest appearance by Styles P.
