For years, Ty Dolla $ign dreamed of working together with John Mayer. In fact, whenever an interviewer would ask the 32-year-old Southern California native about his collaboration bucket list, Mayer was almost at the very top (alongside JAY-Z and Beyoncé, of course).

As it turns out, all those years of dreaming about a Mayer collab paid off. On Ty's newly-released album, Beach House 3, Mayer appears on the opening track, "Famous," contributing guitar and almost impossible to hear backing vocals toward the end of the song.

So, how did Ty finally land his big fish? As he explained to Desus & Mero, it's all thanks to an Instagram comment:

"What I want to do with Beach House 3 is just let people know that, yeah, I kept these dreams alive. Every fucking thing I dream of happens. Like, I said I want to work with Kid Cudi, watch that shit happen. Every interview before, I'm like, 'Yo, I want to work with John Mayer.' Next thing you know, I put out 'Love You Better' and he comments under the shit on Instagram, like, 'Yo, nice artwork.' I hit him up, next thing you know, he's in the studio and we make this song called 'Famous,' which is the first song on Beach House 3. Yeah, shit happens, man."

Sure, social media might fuck up our mood, but now more than ever before, for artists and producers, it has also become the ultimate breeding ground for collaboration.

In addition to his work with Mayer, Beach House 3 also features collaborations with Future, Lil Wayne, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and more.
