Jaden Smith's newly-released debut album, SYRE, features guest accompaniment from A$AP Rocky, Raury, and his sister, Willow Smith, but in an interview with Complex, the 19-year-old rapper cited three names, in particular, whose sound most influenced the body of work.

"I think the noticeable influences are Frank Ocean, James Blake, Kanye," Smith told writer Paul Thompson. "There are a lot of people that you can feel in there. But for the most part I’m really trying to create my own sound that’s never been heard. When I hear somebody else’s song and there’s different pieces in that song that I really like, my whole goal is to try to make a song where I love the whole thing, and this is my passion, this whole song has been perfectly made for me, you know?"

While Tyler, The Creator doesn't appear as a guest on the project, Smith says, much like Rocky and Raury, he also played a big role in its conception and release.

Later in the interview, Smith referred to the album as a "love letter to the world," comparing it to a personal journal that, after years of entries, he decided to release for public consumption.

Three years in the making, SYRE is currently available for on-demand stream and digital purchase via MSFTS Music and Roc Nation.
