This weekend Drake dropped a new 3-song EP/collection of songs/whatever out of the sky, got really mad about about something at a club and just generally continued his quest to crush Sir Francis Drake, Drake University and waterfowl in Google search results.

Oh, and you know what else he did? He sampled Donkey Kong Country 2 on his new banger, "6 God." I'm not quite sure why that makes me so happy - maybe it's the idea that Drake and I might-maybe-possibly have something in common (playing Donkey Kong 2 at three in the morning) but it does. This is the most awesomest news I've heard since the dawn of time.

Ok, now let me backtrack. First and foremost, all praise due to the fine folks at Reddit, more specifically PhinsUp13. I didn't do anything more than check Reddit late at night while definitely not drinking on the job because I'm a professional. PhinsUp13, on the other hand, now there's a man worthy of your praise. Second, yes, I'm aware Drake didn't actually sample anything himself, "6 God" was produced by Boi-1da and Syk Sense. I have no idea which one of them was genius enough to flip a classic Super NES game, but finding out is now a life goal

Ok, now that we've got all the paperwork cleared up, check this shit out:

There's no larger point here, no commentary. I'm not going to flip this into a listicle about video game samples or talk about sample clearances or Boi-1da or whatever whatever whatever. Remember that time a Drake song sampled Donkey Kong 2? That was awesome. Nothing more, nothing less.

That's all. You may now return to your other internet ventures.
