1-O.A.K. & Trackademicks - Someone Great

Posted 3 years ago

On the first song release off of 1-O.A.K and TrackademicksLovelorn: 2 Player Co-Op project, an exclusive DJBooth.net premiere, the duo drops off the paradoxical Someone Great. You might be curious how exactly a single can be paradoxical, but allow me to explain. First, while this song is not original (It is a cover of a LCD Soundsystem tune) it certainly has its own unique style. Trackademicks, the producer in the pair, cooks up a nuanced, synth-heavy production reminiscent of the original, while still managing to make the beat his own. Meanwhile 1-O.A.K’s catchy, understated R&B/pop vocals are a stark contrast to the song’s slightly dark lyrics, which deal with the loss of a relationship or loved one.  If it is possible to bob you head up and down and cry at the same time, Someone Great has the recipe. Lovelorn: 2 Player Co-Op is set for release on December 11, right here at The DJBooth.  In the meantime, catch up on their past works.
