Anyone who thinks that 2 Chainz’ success has come overnight clearly doesn’t remember how long he’s been grinding as Tity Boi as a member of Playaz Circle. But regardless of the moniker, it’s an undeniable fact that the newly minted Def Jam signee is doing big things. Fresh off appearing on G.O.O.D. Music’s Mercy, Chainz has now entered mega-guest verse territory with his new, Drake-assisted single No Lie. Producer Mike Will provides the beat, laying down a heavily bassed cut sprinkled with synths and a melodic piano line. And while I have to bet some will say Drake overshadowed the headliner with a half-sung, half-rapped hook and some trademark Drizzy bars, there’s still nothing quite like a 2 Chainz verse: “Life should be on Cinemax / bought my boo a bigger, bigger then a bigger ass.” What can I say, the man just tells it like it is. Fans of No Lie’s duo can catch Drake and 2 Chainz on the (remaining dates of the) Club Paradise Tour together this summer, and Chainz’s debut solo album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, will hit stores this summer, August 14.
