4th Pyramid ft. Saukrates - So Balboa

Posted 4 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Rich Kidd
Album:
The Pyramid Scheme

A troubled Army vet who, haunted by memories of his brutal torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese, channeled his aggression into becoming a champion boxer, Rocky Balboa exemplifies the fighting spirit that hip-hop artists seek to—what’s that? I’m conflating Sylvester Stallone’s two most famous roles? Actually the shoe fits; introducing himself to the Booth with new single So Balboa (an exclusive world premiere!), 4th Pyramid is equal parts scrappy underdog and brutal mic-murderer. With Rich Kidd‘s stomp-clap rhythm banging in the back, the Toronto rhymesayer weaves a lyrical web of cultural allusions, illustrating his drive to conquer the game with reference to everyone and everything from Gordon Gekko to Michael Jackson‘s Blood on the Dancefloor. Complete with a determination-drenched chorus by fellow T-Dot repper Saukrates, this cut is just one of many quality jams to be found on The Pyramid Scheme, scheduled to hit record stores and online retailers March 13.
